Where have I been for the past several days? I have been living in this fic. At forty-five pages it is the second-longest fic I have ever written (I don't know how many words that is because I never found the word count feature on WordPerfect. Because I am dumb. I can safely say, though, that is is a Lot oF Words).
In the past week, I have watched "Pirates of the Caribbean" no less than twenty-two times. Sometimes I hear a buzzing in my ears and realize it's because I don't have the movie turned on. In the handful of hours I wasn't watching PotC, working, sleeping, or showering, I was mostly listening to Howie Day's "Collide" over and over. Eventually I gave in and named the fic in honor of the song, accepting the fact that I suck at titles.
It was written for the J/W ficathon, which makes it very late. Probably I should have gone with a less ambitious bunny, since I was pretty much given free reign. But every time I tried to write something else, it would turn into this within two pages.
Written for Veronica Rich and N. Ranken. Which is awesome because I worship them. In the morning -- or rather, much later in the morning -- I'll add a more complete heading. Right now, I'm just posting the first third because I feel like it dammit. And I'm going to say that it's J/W, and it's AU, and it's long, and Elizabeth's in it a lot, and the commodore's not in it much at all which makes me sad, and I've never written Barbossa before so it was hard. And...what....I don't know. I'm really tired. I think I might be clinically dead.
