Today=much, much better than yesterday. The Matibag family came in for their cleanings today, and they were great fun. There's Mama Matibag, Teenage Son #1, Teenage Son #2, Daughter, Daughter's Four-Year-Old Twins, and Daughter's Three-Year-Old Son. The little girl was so, so adorable -- she had this little black skirt with pink flowers, and she'd say "Hello!" every time she saw anybody, and she told me I had a pretty name. I wanted to kidnap her. The boys were adorable too. They were basically the cutest kids I've ever seen, except for my own cousins, who will remain the Cutest Kids Ever until I've got my own. They were so well-behaved, too -- the littlest didn't exactly get through his cleaning, but they were there for two or three hours and they didn't get rowdy or whiny. Only sign of strife was the boy twin calling one of the others a bone-head, which is fairly scathing for a four-year-old, I guess. Mama Matibag made them thank Laurie right before they left, and she was tickled.

Weird Wilma was the other temp today. I swear the woman drinks pond water. It's green water -- not tea, but water that's actually green -- with what looks like a long blade of glass at the bottom.

Oh, and we don't know how this happened, but somehow we ended up listening to a Christian station for most of the day. I thought I'd caught some vaguely religious lyrics, but it was very busy and hard to hear, so I didn't take any notice. But then Laurie apparently goes up to Mercedes and says incredulously, "Did Dr. Marc put that on?" (apart from the inappropriateness of playing a religious station in a professional office, Dr. Marc is Jewish, and his father, who owned the practice up till a couple of years ago, is also Jewish). So Mercedes comes cackling up to Dr. Marc and us at the front desk, I start having violent flashbacks to some of Vanessa's music, and Dr. Marc goes, "Huh. Let's go back to Mix 107.3 now."

We finished everything there possibly was to do early, so Darlene and I skipped off at 3:00 to go see "Dodgeball." Stupid? Yes. Hysterical? Also yes. And OMG THERE'S A GUY WHO THINKS HE'S A PIRATE. That alone sold me. Also, best cameos I've seen in a long, long time. "Fucking Chuck Norris!"

Didn't get much writing done today, but I have faith in the ficathon story. It's going to be...considerably longer than is probably expected, but I daresay it'll work. Yesterday I wrote for several hours straight with PotC on a loop in the background and that seemed to be a good strategy. It's also fortunate that I'm favoring Jack/Will at the moment; probably the flavor of next month will be something different, but no worries -- so many glorious ships to choose from!

Tomorrow is a proposed continuation of the job hunt (which, if I say anything more about, I will scream until my head explodes) and hopefully bowling later on, if it works out. I am a ludicrously bad bowler, so it should be entertaining.

And holy crap, I kept forgetting -- only ONE WEEK till Jimmy Buffett. Dad and I have caught so much grief from the other parental unit that it better be worth it.

More mpreg. I am trying to get the rest of it out, much like a cat hacking up a hairball. First, a couple of things I forgot in my catch-up post.

Loving "Coupling" to tiny bits and pieces. I'm through the second series; trying to make the third one last a bit. I wonder if there's a forum on TWoP? Our sucky basic cable doesn't get BBC America. Anyway, the end of "Naked" is one of the funniest things I have ever seen in my life. There are moments in which the phrase 'bust a gut laughing' becomes not a vague euphemisn, but a very grave danger. My mother came to ask me if I was okay and I could only point at the screen, tears rolling down my face. She said. "Riiiiiiight...." and went back upstairs.
