::grinds teeth:: I hate. My mother. Well, no, I don't, I love her because she's my mother. It's just that I find it much easier to love her when she's a hundred miles away.

Anyway. Watched "Y Tu Mamá Támbien. Heh. ::pokes [livejournal.com profile] doolabug:: You were right. ::pokes [livejournal.com profile] firesignwriter:: Totally worth it. There was not as much boykissing as I would have liked, and the voiceovers were kind of grating until I got used to them, but I enjoyed it. All the pool = coming of age or adolescent lethargy or whatever it always symbolizes tickled me and made me want to watch "The Graduate." I didn't know Cuarón made "Great Expectations." It wasn't a great movie by any means, but it did have a couple of images that stuck with me -- Finn with his hand up Estella's skirt when they were young, then the kiss at the fountain years later and that awesome green suit Gwyneth Paltrow had on. "Y Tu Mamá Támbien" was much less...composed, I guess I'd say, than his other films, almost documentary-looking at times. He's a solid director. All the performancers were good too. I don't know if I would rewatch it often, but I'm glad I rented it. And yes, I will probably go back and watch the oooh!dirty! scenes again. Also be a total dork and write down the swear words. The Blockbuster guy was right, the slang was hard to follow (but seriously, who doesn't want to know how say 'group sex' en Español? In any language, really). And Luisa had a Spanish accent, which I haven't heard since Professor Alvarez in ninth grade, so I had to listen to her very carefully. I wish the Spanish subtitles could run side by side with the English subtitles. Of course then my brain would explode.

I caught some more of the Sean Bean=Esau movie on the Jesus channel this afternoon. It was Jacob running away from his brother, only he was on a camel and the terrain was all rocky, so it couldn't move very fast.

Jacob: Oh no! Esau! Must to hurry!
Camel: Hhrrrrrrggnnhh *plod*
*dramatic faraway shot of Esay on his camel*
Esau's Camel: *plod plod*
*Jacob gets off camel and tries to tug it forward*
Camel: Hhrrrrrgnnnhmmmphhh! *stumble*
Donkey: Fuck this shit, we're supposed to be the more intelligent pack animals.
*donkey immediately plunges over the side of a cliff*
Camel: ....Hhrrrrghh. *clip clop*
Esau: *silent because he's still like five hundred yards away*

High speed camel chases. Not suspenseful not matter how overwroughtly your score thunders and crashes.

I would like to know why "The Daily Show" is running repeats again this week. I would also like to know why I feel compelled to watch crap like "The Simple Life 2" and "The Ashless Simpson Show" when in real life, I would smack these spoiled whiney bitches as soon as look at them. And make off with their nice cars.

I have too much on my fic-plate. Two Anamaria-centric drabbles (ha, drabble, yeah sure) left from the request meme, plus the Estrella/Groves because damn, rare pairing fetish. And as many Moon/Tide-verses as I can churn out. Notably a few centered Elizabeth/Anamaria/Jack. Notably a blatant PWP. Also some James-angst. I think I tend to slip into his voice most naturally. I'm going to look back at all my fic and see who narrates most often, and I'm willing to bet James will win by a landslide. I don't know why, really -- whether he has a fairly linear though process or what. It's not because he's most like me, because that would be Will, and I can only write from Will's POV once in a blue moon. Anybody else encounter this problem, where you're setting up a scene with several characters and you just naturally slip into somebody's head? I tried not to do it in the latter half of "Beggars Banquet" because it was meant to be kind of omniscient, but I kept wanting to be James nonetheless. And then (that was a major tangent, in case it wasn't clear), a number of WsIP. And whatever else pops into my head in the meantime. Yarrrr. A pirate's work is never done.

That was embarrassing. I'm going to go away now.
