Beth, this is going to sound weird, but if you're gonna have a bad day at school/work, I hope it was today, just so you can come home to THIS (snagged link from fairestcat.

It's...damn, it's good. I'm still too incoherent and it's only been three listens so far. Mostly, it reminds me of early U2, only with all the skills they've picked up over the years. And it's a little Achtung Baby, and all of what I loved about Zooropa and Pop without any of what I hated. Manges to do what "Elevation" never quite managed to do. And the guitar work is awesome, and the drums smash into the chorus after the bridge, and I love when Bono's delivery gets all breathless. I can't wait to listen to it in the car, cruising down Route 5 with nobody caring how damn loud I've turned the radio up.

Okay, it's over, I'm coherent again. What the challenge involved was each team spread out along a narrow beam, with one person having to inch his way down the line, holding on to the others but only one at a time. So the best way to do this without both people falling was a sort of trembly-looking hug. And the women did it much faster and won (which the producers obviously planned) but I was busying watching the men. Hoyay up the BUTT, man.

Still not terribly interested in this season, but that was totally worth my Thursday night.
