Well, that was the most interesting/disturbing dream I've had in a long time.

Basically the world was ending. The earth was about to be hit by something - I was discussing it with some people and we concluded that it was a meteor that had chipped off of an asteroid (whether this is scientifically plausible, I do not know). It seemed nobody knew about it in advance, because it was going to hit very soon. I think I was at work with people I knew, but made-up dream people, not my actual friends or family. We were running around trying to figure out what to do, and it was very chaotic but there was also a sense of urgency, like people were trying to be somewhere specific before the end came.

I ran to a collection of books, which seemed to be my own books but a random small selection of them, as I noted that my Oz books weren't there. I had grabbed up an armful - the only one I remember is Dinotopia of all things - but somebody told me I could only bring one, I think because of the weight? So maybe we were trying to get to a vehicle. So I picked out Squire, because I only had Kel out of all my Tamora Pierce books for some reason, which...actually would probably make my short list if such a scenario ever came to pass.

Then I think we were on an elevator, which wasn't moving. We went to the cafeteria which was very picked over, and for the last thing I would ever eat I scored the last chocolate pudding cup (the fancy kind, not the Jello kind). I picked off the whipped cream and cookie on top, but I think I only ate one bite. It was more the principle of the thing.

I guess we couldn't go anywhere else, because we ended up in this same building, on a high floor with lots of windows, the better to watch the comet approach. It was a fireball slowly growing larger in the dark, though not as large as I thought. It was traveling parallel to the ground. I watched it head straight for me, I thought to myself that at least it would be quick, and then it hit - no sensation - and with a couple of seconds dream-me ceased to exist.

And then I woke up. And decided not to go back to sleep, even though it was 6:30 on a Sunday morning.

I swear I haven't seen "Armageddon" or "Deep Impact" in years.
