This is without a doubt the weirdest Christmas ever.
The stockings are sitting on the couch. The presents are still under the tree. I didn't wake up until 10:00. The animals aren't dragging their various gifts across the carpet.
It's like a Twilight Zone version of Christmas.
Well, we haven't gone completely unwrapped -- there was candy and a neat phone from Aunt Nancy and Uncle Howard, and one of those sweater-poncho things for me, in soft black wool. Also, I have socks that bark. And I opened Good Omens because I knew exactly where it was and I wanted something like that to read, and Mom found me a package with a raspberry-colored bra and panties set that she wanted me to open. And I gave her her scarf, which she loved, and the garnet earrings are in the stocking, which we're taking to the hospital.
It's all kind of surreal and strange. I don't think this is going to go down in the annals of family history as the greatest Christmas ever.
Oh yeah, and there was the requesite stuffed animal too -- a teddy bear named Gilmore. Having regressed to the age of six, I've been carrying him around all morning.
