Huzzah! Archaeology paper postponed until next Thursday. I had a feeling she'd do that. Now I feel kind of bad about skipping last week. This makes the first thing due...the ethnography. Ech. I suppose I will have to drag myself out to Solomons tomorrow morning to wander around and be creepy. There's supposed to be a section about "memorable experiences," which are not experiences of your interviewees like you might think, but personal memorable experiences. If nothing memorable happens to me on a Tuesday morning, I'll just have to rely on the old standby and Make Shit Up.

Oh, and my passport, she is arrived! El pasaporte está aquí! (La pasaporte, perhaps?) I can now leave the country. I have a hankering to drive to Mexico and/or Canada to test it out. Or do you not have to have a passport if you're not leaving the continent? It's no fun that way.

As long as I'm here and wasting time yet again and it's officially holiday season, I'll do that wishlist meme.

1. A Christmas free of heart attacks and hospital visits. For me and for everyone else, especially [livejournal.com profile] nothinspecial12. I could really just end it there and be happy, but that's not really the point of the list, is it?

2. For a complete 180 from item the first -- money. I don't really want anything in terms of stuff this year. Nothing to unwrap, just cash in the checking account that will become airfare and bus fare and cheap overnight accomodations and presents from Europe. Also acceptance without bitterness that the fact I won't be taking more is my own fault.

3. To meet as many fannish people as possible overseas.

4. Some "Willow" icons.

5. At least one passionate English love affair. At the very least, too much legal drinking and some activities of which I can be thoroughly ashamed at a later date.

6. A New Year's Eve party. I will volunteer my basement, but considering the tinyness of my house that's not saying much.

7. To lose some weight by January 5th. Twenty pounds would be awesome, fifteen is possible, ten is completely doable.

8. A WC apartment for next year so I can have my own room.

9. A good pair of boots.

10. Fic: young Will and Elizabeth, Cottonfic, crossovers with other pirate movies and/or fantasy films and literature, trailer speculation-based, Will topping Jack, Jack/Will/Anamaria, Scarlett/Giselle, lieutenantlurve, Sparrington with a tree fort (modern day or not), Elizabeth/Will/James, Will/James (especially pre-movie), James/the sea, the mysterious Mrs. Swann, a really good original Mrs. Norrington (with an option on Norrinton/Mrs./Jack), next-generation finding some record of their parents' various exploits, Sparringon with a wasting disease, Elizabeth/Jack/James after Will's sudden death, Estrellafic. Good god, I'm easy. Stick a 'for you!' note on it and I'll expire from happiness.

wishlist meme rules: Make a post (public, friends locked,
filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain
your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple
and fun ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish
for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new
car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are
things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real possible things,
make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your
address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get
in touch with you.

- Also, make sure you post some version of these
guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the
holiday joy will spread.

Step Two
-Surf around your friendslist (or
friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And
now here's the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and
it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's
trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or
a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's
dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on
these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to
provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy.
Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules
with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it
might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing
you made someone's holiday special.

Mood:: 'contemplative' contemplative
Music:: "raise the roof," carbon leaf
