First day of classes is officially over. Not only did I forget Landscape was at 8, I assumed it was in Kent. No such luck. It took me ten damn minutes to remember that CH = the Calvert basement room. But I think I'm going to like Meatyard, and it has a bunch of people I know in it.
Then I ran over to AA in a panic because they'd sent me an e-mail saying I was missing a graduation requirement. Turns out they had me marked down for the anthro focus instead of archaeology, in which case I would indeed have been missing a couple of classes. I set them straight and went into work for a couple of hours. It would've been more, but neither Ed nor Sara was there and I wanted to ask them questions about the site map I just finished checking. That project is so weird.
Geology at 6, where there too too TOO many people for the room (and apparently you can't get the lecture hall with under seventy students. WTF? NO CLASS at SMCM has seventy students!). I'm sorry, underclassmen, but y'all need to drop this class because some of us need it to graduate. On the plus side, though, John Henry is in it! Yay John! He was at Oxford and in my film class last semester, and is one of my favorite people on campus. He also agreed to share books with me because I am too broke to buy my books at this juncture. On that topic, why are science textbooks so fucking expensive? For eighty damn dollars, I'm expecting some kind of arcane knowledge in those pages. If I don't find a spell promising wealth, wisdom, happiness, or a foolproof method of luring Johnny Depp into my evil clutches, I'm going to write the publisher.
I'm only taking it because it fulfills my last gen ed, but geology was actually the one scientific subject I enjoyed in school. Well, in middle/high school, because every kid likes science in grade school. You get to build shoebox houses and light them up, and make crystals and shit.
Ian is also in Geo, I assume for the same reason as John and I. It's funny; I was pretty much okay when he walked in. I don't think I'm bitter and angry anymore. It's a nice weight to have lifted.
I believe I will sit and rewatch speeches from the GG on YouTube. Man, I love awards shows. Pretty people! Shiny dresses! Movie clips!
fairestcat, my dear fellow junkie, have you done your Oscar predictions yet? Or do you want until they announce the nominees?
Oh, I'd forgotten the Heroes cast presented Hugh Laurie's award! Oh Sendhil Ramamurthy, you are the prettiest. These people photograph so cute, all together. Aww, Greg Grunberg gave Hugh a big hug. Hee. "Somebody, somewhere, is working with a crew of drunken thieves." He is perfect. And classy. There was a fair amount of class there, actually, and real emotion. I want to be girlfriends with Jennifer Hudson and America Fererra and Emily Blunt. We would wear fabulous and unfabulous clothing with equal panache, and we'd eat kettle corn and paint each other's toenails and watch "American Idol" and rag on Simon.
Unrelated: I dunno if I've ever said this, but Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are my favorite Hollywood couple of the now.
