*grumblegrumblegrumble*
So that stupid Internet Explorer security flaw is making my life difficult. Why am I even using IE, you may ask? Because it's installed on my computer at work. Backwards office technology is backwards. And yes, I have basically used every website that requires a password on this computer.
The first thing I did this morning was delete my browser history in IE (I doubt this will help, but it made me feel better) and install Firefox on the desktop. Unfortunately, the computer is missing a bunch of plug-ins required to run certain sites, including YouTube but most importantly Pandora. And since I'm not the administrator, I cannot actually install these plug-ins. Therefore...I have no music! This is very upsetting! Sigh. I suppose I'll just have to start bringing in my iPod until they patch up IE. This seems as good a time as any to invest in a new set of mini-speakers. At least my holiday mix is made of pure awesome.
In other computer related news, I has a new laptop! Or at least I will, once Best Buy decides to actually ship the damn thing. Seriously, I ordered it Monday and it says it's still processing EVEN THOUGH it's only supposed to take one day to ship. If it doesn't ship out by today, I'm emailing customer service. Anyway, it is the Sony Vaoi I settled on - NR series, I think? The cheapest one, at any rate. It went on sale for $150 off this week, so I pounced. It is midnight blue and has 3GB RAM and a 250GB hard drive and a webcam and Blu Ray and EEEEEEEEEEEE! I'm currently turning several names over in my mind. I'd really like to call it R2D2 because of the color and the awesome, but you can't really plan these things, you know?
I'm actually rather anxious about its delivery because the weather is going to be bad, and I'm gone until 6:00 every weekday. I don't much fancy letting it sit out on the porch to get wet and/or stolen. Mom is home today, but it hasn't even shipped yet. I think if there's even the slightest chance it will arrive tomorrow or Friday, I'll just run home on my lunch hour to check. If it comes on Saturday, no worries.
Random: I've decided that I would be better-charged and less famished by lunchtime if I ate more protein at breakfast, so I bought those frozen things that are like Toaster Strudel except with eggs, cheese and bacon. It sucks that they're processed and they have more fat than I would like (even the "light" ones), but the theory seems to be working. Makes me feel more full than cereal (and there is the added problem that I prefer to eat cereal with too much sugar). Mom suggested I just eat peanut butter toast, but I cannot handle peanut butter at 7am. Although I'd like to just have scrambled eggs, it would add an awful lot of unnecessary fat and cholesterol to the day. You can buy liquid egg whites, no? And they can be scrambled like regular eggs?
Lastly, I am very pleased with my new holiday theme.
