Catching a Christmas edition of "You Might Be a Redneck If" on the radio is a good way to start the day. However, I was a bit disturbed by my response to "If you refuse to attend the family Christmas party unarmed, you might be a redneck": um, isn't that just good sense? Y'all, I suspect I'm just a bit more redneck than I'd like to think.

But my favorite was "If you wrap mistletoe around your blue jeans, you might be a redneck," on account of my inner Jack Sparrow rubbing his chin and going "Well, that has potential..."

My laptop is supposed to arrive tomorrow. On the one hand, I'm relieved that the package requires a signature so they can't just leave it on the porch; on the other, I want it NOW and they should not take it away! I called Katherine to see if she was off tomorrow and could possibly come house-sit for a few hours (will they let her sign for it if she answers the door? Maybe if I give her the card with which it was purchased?) Waiting to hear back from her. I can also check with our neighbors if they're going to be home at all during the day. All they have to do is leave their door open and let those stupid yappy dogs announce when the UPS truck arrives. I am obsessively tracking the package; it just arrived in New Stanton, PA seven minutes ago.

And also, a question. We bought a wireless router a few years ago and it was of course an upgrade over dial-up. But this past year, the connection has been really slow, slower than it was when we got it for sure. I can blame it on the old, worn-down machines, but I'm starting to suspect it's the network. Can routers go bad on you? Do they have to be cleaned or something? It's gonna be frustrating to have this shiny new laptop with 3GB ram and be stuck with this slow-ass wireless connection.

I have recently acquired the "Atonement" score, and it is awesome. I love the typewriter sounds, and the urgency, and the hymn in "Elegy for Dunkirk."

IT'S CHRISTMAS IN A WEEK! ::dances::

ETA: I also obtained the two-disc soundtrack of "Across the Universe." Without the visuals, it mostly just makes me want to listen to the Beatles (similar to my reaction to the "Walk the Line" soundtrack). But this version of "All You Need Is Love," which in the film is this big climactic rooftop thing, is pretty sweet. Also, my Vaio is still in Pennsylvania. DO WANT.
