Ugh.
Just...ugh.
Still sick. It was mainly concentrated in my throat all week - I'd wake up, hack up a lung, and then feel pretty okay until the evening when I'd start coughing and feeling awful. But this weekend the coughing got worse at night. I swear I was up for two hours after I ostensibly went to bed last night - I dunno how I finally managed to fall asleep, because the cough syrup, Nyquil and nasty Halls lozenges didn't seem to do any good.
So I woke up exhausted and wretched this morning and went to see the doctor. The strep test came out negative, which I figured since I didn't really have any of the other symptoms (we had breakfast at Cliff's yesterday and Tina was like "You TOTALLY have strep" but I do not). Then she said she wanted to do a mono test because of my age (yeah, no, I haven't been kissing anybody lately). I'm guessing it was negative because they didn't call me back, but guys...they had to draw blood. You know me and needles. And the lab was all quick-moving and efficient, and the tech was looking at me like I had two heads because I was on the verge of hyperventilating, and they hustled me back to the pharmacy so I could pick up my superspecial cough syrup (I can has codeine! Two hours from now!), and I was swaying in front of the pharmacist trying to decide whether I wanted to faint or throw up. I turned the color of a nice creamy Brie and my face went numb, for reals. After excusing myself to the bathroom I sat down for a minute and calmed the fuck down, but it was way too close for comfort.
Then I went to work and left two hours early, because why the fuck not, I have some sick hours. I am just really looking forward to getting some sleep tonight. I tried to sleep this afternoon, but it seems that lying down is what causes the constant coughing - I guess my sinuses can't drain if I'm horizontal or something? So I was trying to sort of prop myself up, but it didn't really work because of the shelf hitting me in the head. I'm hoping the medication will just knock me out and it won't matter.
