Finished All Clear tonight. Connie Willis, man. GODDAMN. What a magnificent bastard she is. Definitely need to read the whole duology over again to fully appreciate it. And Doomsday Book too, when I have a couple of hours to set aside for uncontrollable sobbing. All Clear brought tears, as does Passage, but Doomsday is like being punched in the emotions over and over again.

I'm in that place where you've read something that hits you where you live and you're incapable of taking in any kind of creative media for some time afterward. Possibly that's just my own weirdness.

Oh! There was a space age soda machine at Cal Tor today. For serious, it was this big silver thing with just one dispenser, and you pick one of twenty-one options from a touchscreen (so I counted, it was EXCITING okay), and it spits out your drink of choice. There is nothing anyone can say to convince me that it isn't a replicator.

And an odd question...is there something you can use to translate text into IM-speech? A website or code or whatever, where you can plug in the imaginary screen names and whatnot?
