the Dalaverse

I just went to Target, Giant, AND Safeway in pursuit of the many varied ingredients that make up a Super Bowl party. Target is all weird and disorienting because they're putting in a real grocery section (yay!) Giant had everything I needed, but I realized at the checkout that I'd forgotten sour cream and an onion for the chili. And I try not to be the kind of asshole who would hold up the line to run all the way across the store to grab something. That's one of the reasons you choose to bring children into this world, no? It's why my mother liked to take me to the grocery store, anyway.

So I drove the quarter-mile to Safeway, because my pride would not let me simply turn around and walk right back into Giant. And I'm glad I did, because I actually found football-themed paper plates there. There was ONE pack of eight dinner plates left and it was behind alllll the red plates, which I knocked all over the floor when I tried to grab it (I assume a manager hid it back there so people wouldn't come up to him all day and ask if they had any more). Of course I had already bought red plastic plates, but that was not the point. The point is I WON. (There were football napkins and small plates too, but I wasn't about to replace my entire disposable dinnerware collection thus far. We can always use the red ones for the sex toy party next week).

And now I'm going to take a break before getting back to Cleaning All the Things, of which there is only the vacuuming and the kitchen left. And then I will make cupcakes, and dye the frosting green and gold, and painstakingly draw little footballs in gold and black on them. So much better than the cakes they had at the store.

I kind of love that this is my football icon.
