So the charger for my laptop burned out last night. Given that I've never had to replace one before (battery, yes, but not charger/adapter), I could use some advice. Obviously the best thing to do would be to buy one off the Sony website, but they are incredibly fucking expensive. I went to Best Buy on my lunchbreak and they have the Targus Compact Laptop Charger for $80 (half that on Amazon, of course) which is supposed to be universal. However, bouncing around the reviews on BB and Amazon, there were a couple people saying that the attachment for the laptop port didn't fit properly and tended to slip out. I knock my laptop around quite a bit, so that would be ungood. And there's always the worry of a voltage issue - my battery's almost dead anyway, only holds a charge for 20 minutes, but I wouldn't want to immediately kill a new one when I finally get around to buying it.

Has anybody used this universal laptop charger, successfully or not? I don't want to spend that much on a "real" one, but I also don't want to waste money on a crappy product.

Obviously, until I can get poor Artoo a new hookup, I'll be a little scarce. I can use my Kindle browser on our wireless network, but it's a pain in the ass to navigate anything but the basics on a device that isn't designed for it. It took me like ten minutes this morning just to check my email; I wasn't about to attempt LJ.
