::rolls eyes:: Ten-minute argument about what movie to see. Dad went into a sulk when we didn't invite him, so now we have to compromise. He won't see "The Notebook," Mom won't see "King Arthur," and I will see anything except what she wants to see -- which is "Shrek II," and not because I don't want to watch it again, but only because there are too many other movies I haven't seen yet.

"Spiderman 2" it is, then.

Mom: I didn't see the first one. Will I understand it?
Dala: It's not exactly complicated. You know the basic storyline.
Mom: He eats a radioactive spider, right?

Heh. This should be interesting.

Went out last night for movies. "Secret Window" was just not that good -- bland and predictable, even if Johnny was good as ever. Not even any good jumpy minutes. Way too many lingering shots that set up (and thus ruin) the proposed scares. Ah well, Johnny's wacky two-toned hair and accent amused me. "Peter Pan," on the other hand, was enchanting. I'm a sucker for really good child actors, and both the leads were fantastic. Far superior to the Mary Martin version and dead even with Disney's animated one. There must be at least one Holy Four moment in most of the movies Dad and I watch together; in this one, he pointed out something Captain Hook said that sounded exactly like the Gnome King. Now that guy had a great voice. Exactly what you would imagine a guy made out of rock to sound like. "These are my ruby slippers."

I lurved it! I wish it had come out fifteen years ago, because it would have been one of my childhood favorites. The Holy Four *sigh* Nothing will ever impact me quite the way those four movies did.

::grins:: Fantasy favorites from an '80s baby. "Labyrinth," "The Princess Bride," "Return to Oz," and "Willow."
