So this is it, right? Polls are starting to close. Number crunchin' time.

As the path around the lake goes up to the dorms, it splits off. The fork to the right of Monty goes to the residence halls, where I lived last year. The fork to the left goes (eventually, grrr) to the quads and townhouses, where I live now. Somebody wrote an encouraging message in chalk at this point in the path. It says VOTE, with NADER going off in squiggly lines into either side of the path, BUSH up the right-hand path, and KERRY down the left-hand path. I took the Kerry path four times today. I choose to see this as an omen.

Also, that funky smell at the pond? The one that's not regular stinky low tide? TOTALLY means that Kerry is going to win.

C'mon, share. What are your funny little good-luck charms and SIGNS from ABOVE?

And I'll be around on AIM all night if anybody wants to squee or weep.

When I heard the Red Sox had made the running for the pennant, I decided that if they won the Series, that would mean that Kerry would win the election.

Absolutely no logical reason for it, the idea just sort of grew on me.

That's actually a story by O. Henry, I believe. But it's a good one.

I like the Sox winning the World Series, yes I do.

The Sox won their pennant-- and the World Series-- for the first time since they traded Babe Ruth to the Yankees in 1918.

And they're Kerry's hometown team. :)

Here's hoping that if the Red Sox can hold on to the Series coming from behind 3 games to 0 to beat the Yankees, that John Kerry can break a dead heat and come out a clear winner.

As long as we're tossing around sports predictors, every presidential election where the Washington Redskins have lost their last home game before the election, the incumbent has lost.

And the Green Bay (Wisconsin!) Packers walloped the 'Skins last Sunday. :)

My mother forgot to vote. That's one bush vote lost. It's hope, I tell you.

Granted, they almost wouldn't let me vote because of my "republicans for voldemort" tshirt. Said it would unduly influence my fellow voters and I had to take it off to enter the polling place. I voted in a bra and jeans.
