Because I'm feeling spammy tonight. Stolded from

If there is any question you would like to ask me about any one of my fics, then go ahead! What I meant by a particular line, why I chose that characterisation, what I was listening to as I wrote, what crack I was taking and where you can get some ... anything. Anything you might like to know about how I wrote a fic, I shall do my best to answer.

More specifically, I woke up that morning with a strange urge. Like waking up with a song in your head, and you can't get rid of it till you listen to it.
2. Marty is proud, but he's also willing to take a lot of crap because he doesn't want to draw any extra attention to his shortcomings (*wince*). He's drawn to Anamaria because she's kind of in the same situation, but she doesn't give a damn what other people think. The bond of being Other (even being amidst a bunch of outcasts, which I guess could make it even more pronounced, actually) means that he doesn't have to constantly be worrying if she thinks less of him, because I think there are few things Anamaria hates more than hypocrisy.
3. OMGIDUNNOIJUSTSCRIBBLE. Seriously though, when I get stuck, I do one of two things: I try to force some words out. Sometimes it gets the juices flowing. If that's totally not working, I'll leave it and come back to it later. Which is why I've become fond of writing rough outlines, because then I've got the bare bones of the idea if not its initial urgency. And there are fics and books that I often turn to, not for specific inspiration, but just because they always make me want to write.

A lot of people write that she was a slave before she took to the seas, but I don't know, I've always seen her as being free, and shaped by the pain and frustration of being witness to the atrocity of slavery all around her. It takes a great deal to earn her trust and her loyalty, but I think she'd stick by you unless you did something to make her question her judgement. She's extremely proud, and if she thinks you're talking down to her or doubting her abilities, she won't soon forget it (which is why she hangs around with Jack, because he appreciates her for what she is and what she can do).
I do think she's inherently bisexual, and it really depends on who comes along to catch her interest, that rare person she can feel comfortable with (whereas with Jack, he's attracted to both men and women, but he treats sex as something far more casual than a woman would be able to). I tend to see her as suffering from some kind of abuse in her past, which may color the way she acts with contemporary partners.
So, I draw from canon that she's a rather prickly person, but she's got a good heart. The rest of it is just opinions I've formed from writing her myself and from reading other people's interpretations of her. Like the lieutenants and any man of Jack's crew (except maybe Gibbs, who has the most backstory and screentime), she's pretty much open to a variety of characterizations.
