the Dalaverse

Well, this is it: my final day in G-burg. Tomorrow we leave at 5:30 sharp (*coughyeahrightcough*) for St. Mary's College, where I will grow and learn etc.

I'm the last one left, you know. As Megan said, the Dala stands alone.

Anyway, what I've been doing frantically (besides packing) for the past 48 hours is burning CDs. I am all done with those I wanted from Dad, except for the Stones, which I can't find, and now I'm doing a random mix of stuff I've downloaded and finally -- the H/D Mix. Oh yes, I'm finally doing it. I'd have to go into the diary to remember exactly when I first began concocting this mix, but I'd guess it was sometime last winter or early spring. I take my mixes very seriously. It took me half an hour just to decide the track listing, and I'm not even doing a cover at this point because that would be a weekend-long project. But as a result of all my hard work, I feel that I truly have the Best Damn H/D Mix Ever. It runs the gamut from foofy to ultra-dark. Some of the songs are associated with H/D fics; some of them just give me a H/D vibe. I'm going to post the mix here, with a short explanation of why I chose each song and links to the lyrics.

I'm about to have to unplug the Center of the Universe (this is what I named my computer) so we can pack it. There has been much screaming, but luckily I have enough room for the books I absolutely need to take, and the bare minimum of CDs I can't live without (there's a 60-CD tower, plus two 24-CD wallets, so that's 108, give or take a double-disc case).

I'm very happy with the response the B/F fic has gotten at ff.net in just a few short days. Man, I forgot how much I love reviews. Can't wait for the R/Hr to get back from Amanda, who was nice enough to beta it for me. It might even be the springboard for me to post all my H/P fics at FicAlley, if I can get my confidence up.

Also, I got a good handle on B & F, and I think I could do an excellent Dawn, so I might try my hand at more Buffyfic. I always did want to rewrite "Touched" and mix up the couples. Possibly mix them up several times.

V. sad that my burner seems to have overloaded, though. I suppose I shouldn't have done 30 CDs in two days, eh? But I'm really pissed that I won't get to make a new CD of downloaded music -- I went back to my EMPTY file on kazaa and got a bunch of BtVS and Heather Nova songs today. Giles doing "Behind Blue Eyes" and Kim Richey's "Let the Sun Fall Down"? Perfect.

Ack, gotta go. When next I post I'll be on campus! I'll be a college student for REAL! WOOOO-HOOOOO!
