So Vanessa and I had a holiday movie-fest tonight to celebrate the end of the week. We watched "White Christmas" first, and I have to say, I absolutely loved it. I love Bing Crosby's voice. That's the kind of voice I want to fall asleep to (and I don't mean that in a negative way). The end, with the general's surprise and the snow...if I'd been alone I would have been curled up in a ball, sobbing. I really want a good cry. It's going to be a really emotional holiday. I can tell already.
Then we watched "A Christmas Story," which I've never seen all the way through. Also a great movie. Tomorrow we plan on LotR the extended version and a repeat viewing of PotC (it's only my second since buying the DVD! Am I not a bastion of strength and willpower?) with Karen present. Errr. About that. It'll be nice to watch it on her laptop instead of my flatscreen, but dude, when she says the lines along with the actors like both Vanessa and I do, she's REALLY loud about it. It's kind of scary and annoying. I very much need to watch this movie with somebody who won't burn me at the stake when I squee over the slashy bits.
::ponders:: Yes, I really do need a good cry. But since I am not alone, I'll just write fic instead. Currently there are four -- count 'em, four -- PotC WiPs in my fic folder. We have "For Want of a Nail," then we have the scene and a half of an untitled little J/W that sprang out of a single line in my head, then the one I'm writing at the moment, another J/N that takes place on board the Pearl and features, among other things, a peeping Tom of an Elizabeth. And lastly, one which I haven't actually started but worked out a summary for, is a J/W where Elizabeth, on the Pearl for her last voyage as a single woman before she marries Norrington, decides that Jack needs a mate and attempts to find one in first one sex then the other. Will is very unhappy about this. I like the matchmaking concept. I'd like to do a similar thing with J/N.
Speaking of fic (do I ever do anything else these days?) I keep forgetting to post things here before I put them up on ff.net. Force of habit, I guess. I sat on this one for an extra two days because I was so desperate for a worthy title. It started out as "Closure," but that's such a terrible cliché and I couldn't accept it. So I picked Beth's and Meg's brains. Meg gave me the actual title: "Closing Davy Jones' Locker" and Beth gave me the (unofficial) subtitle: "Ugh." I'm extremely fond of this one.
