Okay. Yeah. I need serious help. My iPod finally arrived and I cannot get the software uploaded. This is the message I put up on Apple's support board:


I don't know what to do about this; it has happened both times I tried to install the iPod/iTunes software. I just received my special edition U2 20GB iPod today and popped in the startup CD. It goes through and registers me and whatnot, but right around the time it installs QuickTime, I get a message reading:


Error 1406.Could not write value to key/Software/Classes/.ccdda/OpenWithList/iTunes.exe [except backslashes rather than regular slashes]. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact support personnel.


It gives me the option of aborting, retrying, or ignoring. Retry won't work. If I hit 'ignore,' it soon gives me another error message:


Error 1402.Could not open key: HKEY_LOCAL_Machine/Software/Classes/.cdda/OpenWithProgids. Verify that you have sufficient access etc.


Then it says that it is rolling back action, and says I have a Feature transfer error:


Error: -1603 Fatal error during installation. Consult Windows Installer Help (msi.chm) or MSDN for more info.


I glanced at a few pages of topics but could not see my specific problem mentioned, nor has the user's manual or website troubleshooting been helpful. I'm not particularly computer savvy and I have no idea what any of this means. I have Windows XP. My computer HAS been having problems recently; for some reason, my Windows Media Player recently deleted itself. If somebody could at least tell me whether it is a problem with the software or with my system, I would REALLY appreciate it.



I know a bunch of you guys have iPods. Recognize this problem? Or, if not, what exactly do you do if you think your computer has a virus?

I give up. I am going to bed. I found out how to look up my administrator priveleges, but the thing you click on in the tutorial page, Local Users and Groups, is simply NOT THERE under my Computer Management. I tried it under Dad's log-in, and I tried to install iTunes as well, and it did not work.

I fucking hate computers. And Steve fucking Jobs.

Spent more than my entire first paycheck on this thing, and I cannot use it.

FUCK.

I believe there is an Apple store on 355. I will call it tomorrow after I get home from work.

Apparently I speak without contractions when I am really angry.
