That's it, I am now storing caffeine pills in my car at all times. Tonight I was drowsy for a full hour, which isn't an unusual occurence, but doesn't often last so long. It wasn't like I was about to veer off the road or anything -- or into the next lane at 80mph, more like, since I was on the highway. But I forgot to turn my headlights all the way up when it got dark enough, and a state trooper pulled up alongside to yell "TURN YOUR HEADLIGHTS ON!" through his bullhorn. Then I woke up a bit. I was still kind of poking along, though, and I pulled into a gas station after the St. Charles Parkway to get a soda.

I don't really have any excuse for feeling this tired; my weekend was not that eventful. I drove home Saturday night, missing rush hour but getting stuck in some kind of accident traffic anyway because the Beltway thinks that's funny. Yesterday I worked in the office with my mother, which is a nice easy forty bucks, and what the FUCK is beeping in the room?! Why are we always plagued by beeping things? It can't be one of the phones, because neither of them is out.

Anyway, I managed to talk my mother into catching "Elizabethtown" in the two showings left at Rio. Maybe the reason the box office is doing so poorly is that every movie disappears three weeks after it opens when you've finally managed to make time to see it? Also, they charged eighteen thousand dollars for a soda. I loved the movie just a bit more the second time around soley because I noticed something new -- Chuck's Chuck & Cindy boxers in the beer hug scene. I don't know how I could possibly have missed that before, but I giggled about them for a good ten minutes. My mother thought the funniest thing in the movie was the ex-girlfriend making off with the giant framed photo of Mitch at the memorial, which I agree is hysterical. Dad loved the music, as I knew he would. And he says he knew one of the guys in the lunch counter statue at MLK's hotel -- apparently they went to the same high school.
Took note of where the music fell in the movie. Nancy Wilson is very good at sneaking in themes from songs into the score. I swear I didn't actually hear "Long Ride Home" in the movie, although I did hear the other Patty Griffin song. I definitely caught two of the songs listed in Claire's map that were not mentioned anywhere else: "Powerless (Say What You Want)" by Nelly Furtado and "New Slang" by the Shins. I have them both, so on the Etown playlist they go. Heh, if Crowe had included "New Slang" in the movie, every single reviewer would have dissed it in favor of "Garden State," instead of just half of them. I tried to be objective about the film in general, and my opinion remains pretty much the same: while I did note a few lines that fell flat and some really bad transitions, I still disagree that it's all jumbled and rambly, and I still appreciated all the family interactions, and I still think all the actors did a fine job. Even if Kirsten Dunst's saggy boobs freaked me out.

Seriously, WHAT is beeping?

I should hike over to the lab and do my stat homework. I learned last week what a stupid idea it is to leave it until Monday morning. But I'm tiiiiiiired.

Cancelled Netflix. There are movies in the library. There are movies in the library. There are movies in the library, dammit!

Meme, because...why not? (even though I don't think I asked anybody else. I'm crappy like that.)

Ask me what happens after the end of any of my stories. (Or tell me what you think.)
