Gacked from...everybody, seems like.

Step 1: Put your playlist on random.
Step 2: Pick your favourite lines from the first 25 songs that play. (I cheated only a little.)
Step 3: Post and let people guess what song the lines come from.
Step 4: Cross out the songs when someone guesses correctly.

1. There's one thing, baby, that I don't understand/You keep on telling me I ain't your kind of man "Beast of Burden," the Rolling Stones
2. Take back your singing in the rain "Freedom '90," George Michael
3. Oh yeah, I guess I gotta buy it "Centerfold," the J. Geils Band
4. Go lightly down your darkened way
5. But while we're apart, don't give your heart to anyone "Save the Last Dance for Me," the Drifters
6. And I felt the lie, something sticky on the inside
7. And as I rode away I could hear her say to José "Come a Little Bit Closer," Jay and the Americans
8. He needs some pettin' and lovin' on his rain-soaked hide "Kitty," the Presidents of the United States of America
9. I need to know that you were real/I'd hate to think that I've been fooled again
10. So let's sink another drink/'Cause it'll give me time to think "Dancing With Myself," Billy Idol
11. Looks like nothing's gonna change "Sittin' On the Dock of the Bay," Otis Redding
12. Never look back, walk tall, act fine
13. Measuring a summer's day day/I only find it slips away to gray
14. 'Cause all of the stars are fading away/Just try not to worry, you'll see them some day
15. Hope you make a lot of nice friends out there/But just remember there's a lot of bad, and beware "Wild World," Cat Stevens
16. Amor prohibido nos dice todo el mundo
17. And there's a rose in a fisted glove/And the eagle flies with the dove "Love the One You're With," CSNY
18. He thinks that singing on Sunday's gonna save his soul/Now that Saturday's gone
19. I like the groove of your walk, your talk, your dress "The Way You Make Me Feel," Michael Jackson
20. They're so worried 'bout what we'll think/They took the time to learn to lipsynch
21. I want to rock your gypsy soul/Just like way back in the days of old
22. Well I know I miss more than hit/With a face that was launched to sink
23. Now the preacher looked so baffled/When I asked him why he dressed/With twenty pounds of headlines/Stapled to his chest "Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again," Bob Dylan
24. We were just young and restless and bored "Night Moves," Bob Seger
25. I was the endless sky/And you were my Mexican dove "Linda Paloma," Jackson Browne

::giggles:: Do you have any idea how difficult it is to pick a favorite line from a Bob Dylan song?

5. But while we're apart, don't give your heart to anyone

Save the last dance for me

There is more than one version, so you need to tell us the singer.

3 is Centerfold, by J. Giles Band. I know number 2 but can't think of it. 7 is an old horribly offensive and delightfully cheezy song I don't know the title of, but I can tell you the chorus is "Come a little bit closer, you're my kind of man, so big and so strong, come a little bit closer, I'm all alone, and the night is so young!" 11 is Otis Redding's Best Song Evar, Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay. 16 is, if I'm not mistaken, a spanish translation of "I think we're alone now," and god I hope I'm mistaken, because that disturbs me. 24 is Bob Seeger's Against hte Wind, and that's all I've got.

Hee. "Come a Little Bit Close" is one of my very favorite silly old songs, and there are a lot of them.

16 -- is not that ::shudders:: but a Selena song one of my high school Spanish teachers drilled into my head. It's awesome, and the chorus has English lyrics. Picture twenty fifteen-year-olds mumbling three verses in Spanish and then shouting in unison, "OH, OH, BABY!" It leaves an impression.

1 seems like Rolling Stones to me... maybe "Beast of Burden?"
3: "Angel in the Centerfold," J. Geils Band
5: This is an early Beatles one, I think. "If you break my heart, I'll go, but I'll be back again..." that one.
8: Presidents of the USA, "Kitty"
10: "Dancin' With Myself," Billy Idol
11: "Sittin' On The Dock Of The Bay," Otis Redding
21: "Into the Mystic," Van Morrison
24: "Night Moves," Bob Seger

"Sugar," Heather Nova. What did you think of South? I liked Siren better. *g*

I liked South better than the newest, Storm, but Siren is one of my favorite albums of all time. I'm trying to get ahold of some of her older stuff; it's impossible to find in stores.

What were your impressions of Storm as compared to the other two? South sounded to me like she was trying to get mainstream radio play, but it ended up coming off less accessible to me than Siren. (O 'course, Siren was my first dose of Nova and you always remember your first, so that comes into play as well.)

I find Oyster a bit darker than Siren and I like it, it's also got the hooks and the melodies, but I like that Siren is more uplifting and soothing. I haven't heard Glowstars. Have you tried Amazon.com? They seem to have all her stuff.

I recommend her live albums, though I don't agree with the fans that think her voice is superior on the live albums over the studio LPs.
