My dad had a heart attack at 3:30 this morning.
The cardiologist said that, as far as these things go, it wasn't too bad. It was still a heart attack. He had an angioplasty and they put things in his chest, I can't remember what they're called, to hold open the artery that was clogged. He has to stay in ICU for two to three days.
I have to go into hysterics in the shower and scrub until the smell of hospital goes away.

I know that this will make this Christmas different from any other you've experienced, but I pray you will still find the joy and peace in it, and that your Dad will be just fine and back in his home and among his family very soon.

Hold on to the thought that he'll be okay - you got him to hospital in time and he's getting the right treatment.
::hugs you some more::

The timing truly, deeply sucks, but like everybody else said, they caught it in time, and it sounds like he'll be out of the hospital and back in action really quickly, which is a very good sign.

I don't know if this is happening to you, but when my dad went into hospital to have a fairly major operation, people kept ringing us, and it was exhausting and draining to say the same thing over and over and over... So I did what my uncle suggested, and set up an email bulletin which I sent to anyone who asked for it. It's much easier for everyone concerned. (Especially since there are now 60 or so people on it.) Just a thought.
