Sigh. The Barenaked Ladies almost have amazing magical powers. They almost tied us up in the ninth inning when I thought "oh shit, I'd better turn this on," but they only managed to secure two runs instead of the necessary three. Still, they remain the lucky music. It was entirely my fault for neglecting to turn it on until the last minute.

Nationals game, in other words. Another loss, but it was a good game, and my baby Jamey Carroll did pretty well. There was extra security on the Metro today because of London, including an officer of border patrol/homeland security on one train with us, which freaked me out a little. But I'm still in one piece, no thanks to THE GIANT PULSATING MOB that formed in front of the free umbrellas they were giving out tonight. It was brutal. Shoving, yelling, 90-degree heat and resultant body odor. We managed to escape unscathed and with an umbrella apiece, but it was a near thing. They were the old-fashioned kind with those pointy metal bits on the end.

On the ride home, I shared a car with a Ioan Gruffud lookalike. I tried not to stare, but he went the opposite direction at Metro Center anyway.

Yay baseball!
