You know it's been a long day at work when you're convinced the answer to life, the universe, and everything, or at least the question, will reveal itself in the salad spinner if only you keep spinning and staring at it long enough. And then you forget the word for teakettle.

But! I hauled my ass to Bowie for the adoption show, and I did meet the hound mix named Callie, and lo, she was wonderful. Adorable and sweet and affectionate and house-trained. A bit smaller than I thought, and I really, really wanted something with collie in it (I became obsessed with collies round about fifth grade), but once the parents meet her and if all the rest of the adoption stuff goes through, I'm pretty sure this is the dog. But I still felt guilty about the lady who'd called about this other dog, Ralphie, so I made my mother call her back and we'll be scheduling a visit soon. This will end one of three ways: 1. We meet Ralphie, but politely tell his foster mother that he is too big for our townhouse and we hope he'll find another family soon 2. He tries to eat Sugar so we have to turn him down or 3. My parents fall madly in love with both Ralphie and Callie, I perform the world's most stunning feats of begging wheedling tantrum-throwing argumentation, and we are a two-dog household for the first time ever.

Okay, the third one might be a longshot.

I head the best mash-up ever tonight, or at least the best since "Boulevard of Broken Songs": NIN's "Closer" and Ace of Base's "All That She Wants." It was slinky and creepy and AWESOME.

Also, just reminded myself of this insane thing I caught late at night on some random channel. It was claymation, and a tiny little feature called "Napoleon Bonapartemite." And, as you can guess, it too was awesome. "Who are you gonna conquer today, Napoleon?" "Whoever I FEEL like I wanna conquer, GOSH!"
Mood:: 'cheerful' cheerful
Music:: that song from the end of "napoleon dynamite"
