This meme is perfect for me. [livejournal.com profile] black_claw was the last I saw it pop up, I think.

Go http://www.musicoutfitters.com/ and put your birth year into the search thingy. The first link is likely the top 100 songs of that year. Cut and paste that list here. Bold the ones you actually like. Understand that the word "like" in this case means, in the very least, "wouldn't immediately change the radio station from". Pick a favorite. Underline that favorite.

Man. I'd always associated 1985 with the release of Born in the USA, and I'd never realized how thoroughly it was permeated by exactly the type of music I despise. Every Time You Go Away! Solid (solid as a rock)! You're the Inspiration! Smooth Operator! Fuckin' WE BUILT THIS CITY! And of course, far more Phil Collins than is healthy. God I hate Phil Collins. There are simply no words.
Music:: "not a virgin," poe
Mood:: 'amused' amused

Some of us can't do this meme because they don't have the top-100 list for our birth-year online yet. :(

Some of us can't do this meme because they haven't managed to translate those song titles off the cave walls yet ...

oh, dala, you're so young. I remember the songs from your birth year so much better than I remember mine... Then again, the 80's had some good and catchy pop. . .

Yes, I am a wee one. Frankly, though, I'm glad I don't remember this year. Amid the good and catchy pop was PHIL COLLINS and HALL AND OATES and FOREIGNER and LIONEL RICHIE and other artists that have been retired to the ::shudders:: soft rock stations now.

Oh, if only you lived near me. There is one "rock" station that plays nothing but Phil Collins and Elton John, it's horrible.

BITE YOUR TONGUE, YOUNG LADY! This music got me through the worst year of junior high (yes, that's what we called it way back then) on record.

My year ... "Rocket Man" and "American Pie," baby ...

So much of the stuff that really irritates me migrated to the soft rock genre I despise...one minute the damn station is playing something good and the next minute it's Barry Manilow or Phil Collins and I want to kill myself.

Good Goddess! I'm ancient in comparison!!! *sniffle*

I loved so many of these songs when I was in college. College! Waaaahhh!!!

*slinks off to hide in the corner, trembling and sucking on a Wonka bar*

You don't like/know "I Want To Know What Love Is"?? o_O OMGOMGOMG!

Sorry for the outburst, I just love the song so much.

And whee! "You're The Inspiration"! I love it. Seems we have quite a different taste in music. ;)

*stares at her results*....OK we are NOT even going to go there. I don't think there are that many songs I like on my list (1980), no offense to anyone who actually does. Probably because until I hit high school, I was listening to the music of my parent's generation (and liking it so back off people!)
