Well. I'd made this deal with myself that I would refrain from posting until I was able to access the Internet from my own computer, but due to circumstances, I have no idea when that day may come. Certainly not this weekend, which is as long as I can hold out.
If I hear myself discussing or explaining the problem one more time, I'm going to scream. Er. Watch myself typing, more like, but the end result is the same, and I'm in the library. Suffice it to say that I've spent a total of six out of the past thirty-one hours with six separate Dell technicians, and I'm still here posting from the library.
Other stuff happened that wasn't the total suck. Last Friday was Jeanne's birthday party, and there was cake and rum and a Slip-n-Slide, and I chatted all night with one of the most attractive boys I've ever chatted up. He doesn't go to my school, so don't start with the "ooooooh!"s. Then I went home and said goodbye to Megan for the very last time, at least until December, and Tina until...Thanksgiving, I think. There was some crying.
I adore two of my classes, am ambivalent toward one, and violently dislike the last, so all told it's a decent schedule. Sent one of the Oxford recommendations off to Dr. L yesterday, with the intent to get most of the paperwork done this weekend. We'll see how that goes.
Nothing I can say about Katrina that hasn't been said more eloquently by others. I'm sickened and saddened and angry and haven't been able to donate because I was waiting for my Internet access, but I'll have to ask Vanessa if I can use her computer once she gets back from camping.
I'm suffering from lack of fic. Mostly I've been able to keep up with the flist by developing the ability to run through five or six pages in the ten minutes before class, but fic is harder, particularly anything with a higher rating. Can't write much myself, as I see no reason to put my files back on my hard drive (did I mention I wiped it? Yeah, that's all I have to say about that) until everything is finally resolved. Can't do the earthquake fic anyway, not with the flooding and the disease and the dying. I might be able to eke out the rest of the requests from WAY back in the middle of summer. At some point.
Mumble. I'm going to go over to 15 after dinner and whinge.

I was thinking the other day about you coming over to Oxford... I'm gonna have to read up on local history because I found out the other day that my local pub here in Thame was at one point a prison during the Napoleonic Wars ^_^ Plus, like, loads of stuff in Oxford itself... and I need an excuse to get my head down & read up on it ;-)
