Renn Fest with Dad today. I wore my regular outfit because I fear the beads are in the process of falling off my pirate sash, and also I despise those pants. Had to lace the bodice up straight rather than crisscrossed, but it looked all right in the end, and this was the first time in years I've gotten to wear my cloak because it was chilly enough.
OMG HILBY WAS THERE! Hilby the Skinny German Juggling Boy is THE funniest act. He was only doing half the season this year so I didn't see him last time, but seriously, I could watch him every day and not get bored. He's just hysterical. Wacky and snarky and German. With fire-juggling and ten-foot-unicycling. It was hella windy so his tricks didn't go as well as usual, but whenever he missed or dropped something he'd come back with something like my subject line. I love Hilby. I LOVE him.
We also caught most of Jonny Fox, whose routine I have memorized because I've seen him so many times, but again, he just never gets old. Half the audience has seen him a million times too and the other half is new, and everybody enjoys it alike. I managed to hear one song from the Pyrates Royale when we sat down for a cider at the White Hart Tavern, and then! Then the Rogues played, which is awesome because they're great and also I have crushes on all the bandmembers and one of the bellydancers. At the end of the day, we saw Puke and Snot. I don't know why I've never seen them before, since they're one of the longest-running acts, but anyway, they're great too. Like Abbott and Costello only filthy dirty. The beginning of their act was blatantly political and didn't go over so well with the entire audience; they didn't back off, but they kind of hurried through it, and then went into this gut-busting rapid-fire banter.
I spent twenty bucks on food today. I'm so ashamed. But Dad gave me a ten, so I'm not quite horrified at myself. Oh, and I saw an excellent Jack Sparrow, and my favorite clothier had the most FANTASTIC pirate coat. Very simple, super-light wool, in black, red, or purple. I wanted it like mad, but at $250, it was approximately $245 over my price range.
Also this weekend, I lost badly at tennis and rented "The Amityville Horror" remake and "The Private Lives of Elizabeth and Essex." The first was entirely unremarkable. Ryan Reynolds ain't no Jack Nicholson (however, I hope he pays his personal trainer well, because damn I wanted to lick his stomach). The second was AWESOME. Did I mention it also had Vincent Price as Sir Walter Raleigh?
Wahhhh. I really need to study for Archaeology and Stat. I really do not want to.
