The holiday is not officially over until Dia de los Muertos :P This one takes place in my own private crackverse established here and is for veronica_rich and guede_mazaka -- they ought to know why.



Hair of the Dog


“Oh my God,” Will moaned, burrowing beneath a pillow, stomach roiling at the combination of chocolate and liquor permeating his mouth, his skin, and apparently the bed sheets. To burn his head, or to let it melt slowly as it seemed to be doing?

Jack’s brow furrowed in pain as he wriggled out from under Will’s immobile arm, and if he was hung over, it was time to call in the National Guard. No other entity was qualified to restore order to the room Will refused to open his eyes to see.

“What the fuck happened to ‘we’ll spend a quiet Halloween at your place, Will, giving out candy to the munchkin masses?’”

Jack whimpered, trying to cuddle up to Will and receiving an elbow in his ribs. “Stop shouting, m’head hurts. Besides, we did that.”

“Yeah, and then we came back here, to the party you neglected to tell me about until I stumbled in with my kilt up around my waist,” Will rasped. He rubbed his tongue over his teeth, trying to swallow down the sweet-stale taste of sugar, rum, and sweat without retching. He hadn’t thrown up after a night of drinking since college, except for Jack’s birthday last year, and the vacation they’d taken in Fiji, and the night James proposed to Elizabeth...

“Still had candy,” Jack mumbled, blinking big black eyes until Will grudgingly curled around him once again. Stupid pointless giant bed, it wasn’t as if they ever stretched out to all its corners –

“Where did you get those little things? I swear there was a full shot in each one.”

“At least one and a half –”

“Little place behind the deli on –”

Will and Jack fell silent at the same moment, eyes finally cracking open, watering against the sunlight streaming through the window. Slowly Will extended one foot until his toes probed a very nice set of abs at the south end of the bed.

“Morning,” said the man cheerily, rolling over and shaking dark hair out of hazel eyes.

Will choked and grabbed at Jack’s arm when an equally disheveled auburn head popped up near his feet, yawning. “Christ, Theo, what did –”

“– we do last night?” Jack finished weakly, ducking his head under his lover’s chin, clearly prepared to take the fall. Will merely sighed, dug in the covers until he came up with a half-eaten tray of mango schnapps chocolates, held one to Jack’s lips, and offered the rest to their guests.
