Tonight I watched PotC for the first time since, oh, Christmas or thereabouts, with Vanessa. And then I watched half of it again -- the Jack Davenport/Keira Knightley commentary -- because Jessica came in and she hadn't seen it before.

I love my movie.

This time around, I noticed for the first time that Jack's scar from the cursebreaking would be entirely different from Will and Elizabeth's. In fact, from the way he slices the blade, it looks as though he'd have two scars, one on either side of the coin. It wouldn't be in the center of the palm in any case. Nothing earthshattering, I realize, but food for thought since I've seen the damn thing eighty four thousand times.

No, only one scar. IIRC, he fights with a cutlass (curved blade, right?) and they only have one sharp edge. :)

Gahh, I forgot about that. I think it is a cutlass.

Let me pass a little plot bunny on that I've played with it a little bit (in Blissfully Happy; or Touched by a Pirate but I'd love to see how somebody else worked with it. When Jack tosses the coin to Will, it has his blood on it. Will then cuts his own palm and drops the coins in the chest. Suppose there was a commingling of Sparrow and Turner blood there. Suppose further that the cursed coins had some mystical power so that it caused a connection to be formed between the two.

Let that gnaw on yer leg a day or two, mate.:)

There is going to be a continuation of this, right? Can't say I've read this story before ....

{bounces} Somebody did a fic something like that, it's on the Pit, and dang it all, I can't remember who did it! Actually, they did two or three fics (beats head on desk, wall, floor) Dang it, I'm going to hunt them down, I've not read them in far too long!

Found her! EstelWolfe is who I'm thinking of, she's here http://www.fanfiction.net/u/425831/ The fics in question are, A Taste of Misery, Trust Me Still, To Love and Protect, and My Brother's Keeper. It's been a while since she's updated My Brother's Keeper, the current story in this arc, I sincerely hope she finishes it!

I'm just confused as to why exactly Jack cut his hand. To break the curse, didn't they only need Turner blood? Which would mean only Will would need to cut his palm... Unless I'm missing something, but if I am, that kinda gives me an excuse to watch it again ^_^

Jack took a coin from the chest while he was diverting Barbossa by taunting him with Norrington's crew to satisfy his bloodlust, and secreted it on his person, making him invulnerable to injury (as we see a little later on). Anyone who takes a coin from the chest directly has to put it back with the blood price. Will's blood is only needed because his father is no longer around to pay the blood price himself.

Okey dokey, I knew that Jack took a coin, but never really understood the blood price thing. Thanks for the explanation!

One scar, but definitely differently shaped and at a different place than the others. *cough* Observant Commodores could take notice of that*cough*
