I've got the first Taking Care/Nightmare scene written, the Betrayal, Jack's Despair Following the Betrayal (In Prison), and the Conspiracy (including Norrington's Despair Following the Betrayal, in the Turner home). I'm not too sure I've worked enough Despair in; I'm afraid anyone reading it might go, "Yes, but how does Jack feel about all this?" I'm hoping I made his feelings clear enough without going deep into his POV, but if not, I'll have to rework it.
Still, I love Jack's line at the Betrayal, and I love some of his Despairing snark in the prison, and I was really disappointed in the Conspiracy at first, but I've gone back and polished it a bit and I'm rather fond of it now. It's not the sort of thing I'm used to writing, so it was good exercise.
Next up: the beginning middle parts, aka Sick Jack/Becoming friends, the Birth of Will and Elizabeth's First Child (whose name at this point is Polly, though that could change at any moment), and some Post Becoming Lovers. Then we hit the Betrayal and following scenes, although oooh, I will probably first need some short scene that will press Norrington's duty upon him so that the Betrayal can happen. And thennnnn the Rescue, the Finale Aboard the Pearl, and we have our fic!
::beams:: God, I love this fic. Twenty-one pages at present, and look at what all I've still got to write!
Okay, it's more like eighteen pages because the smut scene doesn't fit in the narrative and won't actually be in the final version of the fic (I like to think of it as an outtake), but still. For once my desire and ambition and writing ability are all in sync with one another. I'm gonna take the PotC fandom by storm.
Er, the five people who aren't twelve-year-old girls writing Jack/Mary Sue, anyway. And the two people out of that who will read Jack/Norrington.
Still. I don't care a whit about feedback this time, I'm just excited to be writing it. I'll post the first couple of scenes sometime this weekend, after a (hopefully) double-beta and at least one fresh viewing of the movie, and we'll see.
