I don't have my Underwater notes on me and it would be just like me to mix these two up and thus fail miserably in my attempt to look knowledgeble, so:

Terminus ante quem would refer to the date before which something must have originated, yes? I'm pretty sure because of antebellum, but it's better to be absolutely sure.

God, this paper is kicking my ass.
