Is it possible to die of antici........pation?
Fuck, I love Tim Curry.
I just realized that my integral class will take me to Bath, Stratford-upon-Avon, Kenilworth, Hampton Court Palace, and the Tower of London, so I can cross those off the list. Although the Tower is something Dad and I would really enjoy together, so perhaps I will go twice. My god, it costs a fortune to see ANYTHING. On the plus side, I get a student discount; on the downside, Meg says it's usually only 10-20%. I suppose that's better than nothing. Except the British Museum is free. Mummies and the Rosetta Stone and the Elgin Marbles -- FREEEEEEEEEE.
Have to take a smaller piece of luggage because the two bigger pieces exceed the size limit. Really rather fortunate, as this should encourage me to PACK LESS.
OMGWTFBWITHURSDAY.

Had you considered buying a Great British Heritage Pass? You can buy them in England, if you can't find a local travel agent who has one available, and if you're going to have even a few weeks to sightsee before classes start, it might very well pay for itself.
I know $150 for a 1-month pass sounds like a lot, but when you start adding up the entrance fees it goes pretty fast. AND it lets you jump the queue at a lot of places, which can save you hours right there. :)
When a friend and I spent a week and a half in England (almost ten years ago now, eep!) we figured out that just going to the Tower (half price) and the major sites in Stratford (free!) let us break even on ours. And that wasn't counting the Jewel Tower and the Westminster Abbey vaults in London, the Roman ruins in Bath, a couple of Cathedrals, Warwick Castle....
Damn, that was a good trip. Do try to get to Canterbury while you're there, it's incredible!

It would be nice if admission were taken care of for the field trips, but I think they said it wasn't...at least when I do the sightseeing with the parents, they'll follow ancient child-mooch custom :)

Ah, yeah, that is a downside. I wasn't sure if maybe you had a week or two 'free' before classes started, and figured I'd mention it.
According to their website, you can buy 'em at any Tourist Board, though, so if it turns out you have a handful of days free, you can still take advantage of them.
Have a fantastic time! I look forward to your first "I'm in England!!!" post. :)
