Interesting night at CMRS. We made enough popcorn to feed a mid-sized country and put it in the giant pot. The giant pot's circumference is about the circumference of my arms with the fingertips just touching, so you can imagine what a vast pot it is. I'm convinced it made the popcorn self-generating. There were also large quantities of cider. All this preparation was centered on a viewing of "The Goonies," which is a childhood favorite on which everyone can agree. I love how Sean Astin hasn't changed at all from age twelve. After the movie we ran crazily around St. Michael's Hall, as Nathan and Liz were especially drunk, and ended up on a piece of the roof outside Fred and Daniel's room. It was cold, but we were on the roof, and we could see the Big Dipper, and Teresa threw an orange at us from Nathan's room, which was where we congregated after it got too cold to sit out on a roof drinking port.

So how come nobody ever told me about Google Earth? You can look at satellite pictures of your house! Or not mine, precisely -- seemed like all of Mo Co was low resolution. But we looked up SMCM and the White House. It's both creepy and awesome.

Nathan, Liz, Abbey and Sarah went to get chips a few minutes ago; I bowed out because it would've been my fourth helping of chips this week, in addition to potato crap every day at St. Peter's, and that is just ungood. I've half a mind to go up to the boys' room and chat with them all, but I choose to sit here and brood over Them. They left sometime during the movie and have been gone ever since, probably to her room because her roommate's gone to London for the night. I'm almost glad to have it all real and official. No more doubt or hope or self-delusion. I'm done talking about it, and I'd like to try to be done thinking about it even though there's slim chance of that.

That makes me sound terribly depressed, and mostly I'm not, mostly the night was good. I just can't bring up the subject with anyone here, and I have to excise it somehow if I'm going to get over it.

Anyway. I am going to listen to Dar Williams and read Al Franken and be bummed over the state of American politics rather than the state of the Dala. I ought to use my Sloth icon, but I'm feeling too Aly at the moment.

Google Earth rocks the Casbaugh, seriously. Now if it would just give 3-D images. (Go look up the Pyramids sometime.)

Perfect cure for homesickness. I spent half an hour poring over D.C.

Google Earth is teh spiffy. What is funny sometimes is when you see where they overlapped different pictures, and suddenly the perspective is different, and two skycrapers seem to be tilting in different directions.
