prepare the transit beam

So much love for the roomie who makes me toast and jam for breakfast. So much.

But I think I may go back to bed, because I am weirdly tired. I suppose I was busy yesterday. The usual lectures, then a field trip to Merton Library (1370s. Yes. They still had a chained book.), and then -- ROCKY HORROR AT THE NEW THEATRE! Which I'd never seen performed before, and which was awesome. It was weird to hear a Brad and Janet and Columbia who could actually sing. There was lots of thigh and fishnet and bustier and ass, as it should be, and the guy playing Dr F was thoroughly awesome, and the woman playing Janet had fantastic breasts, and the guy playing Rocky had such a body...all in all, it was an excellent time. I went with several people from CMRS and we all got up to dance the Time Warp. I also broke down and bought a t-shirt and then went out to dinner at Gino's with Ruth. I am made neither of stone nor of money.

When I got back, I continued to be so enamoured of my tights -- a black lacey pattern with little lavender dots -- that I put on black shorts and my new shirt and pretended I was a stage dancer. I dithered over going out with Liz and a score of other folks for nearly an hour, but in the end I decided since I was going to be wearing the tights all night anyway, I might as well take them some place nice. So out we went to Freud, a trendy little jazz bar in a former church. The cocktails were not as expensive as some other places around here (*coughMaxwellscough*), so I had two drinks (and note to self: self, you owe Rena four pounds). Unfortunately, this was the exact amount of alcohol it takes to make me mildly buzzed for ten minutes and then so sleepy I can hardly stand. I only danced for a little while, not because I didn't want to but because I looked like a zombie trying to find the beat. I got up several times and tried to get back into it, but it just wasn't happening. Also, the heavily ska-infused ban kind of sucked. We finally stumbled home at 2 am, me about weeping because I was stupid enough to wear my cuuuuute black heels (I took them off to dance), at which point I fell into bed and slept through till 10 this morning. Liz stayed up later and says there was some kind of common room conference because Caitlin's fiance back home was angry that she'd gone out. I mostly find this amusing in addition to ridiculous because it makes it look like Rena and Brian, who have never kissed and will not until they tie the knot this summer, appear to have a healthier relationship than your more conventional couple Caitlin and Scott. On the other hand, perhaps like Lauren and Tom they have some past trouble with fidelity that I'm not privy to.

Speaking of 'privy,' I'm nearly done The Queen's Fool and intend on going to the library straightaway to get another Gregory.

We're MEN! MEN in TIGHTS!

...well, sort of.

This cast recording of the RHS is, in my opinion, better than the movie soundtrack (Amazon put the wrong cover art up, though). Still full of Tim Curry and Meat Loaf goodness, but the rest of the cast have better voices.

Trivia: Kim Milford, who played Rocky in this production, also "starred" in MST3K #706, Laserblast. That was a very, very, very bad movie.
