ETA: Have made it! And have achieved Internet. More later. BLOODY PIRATES!
Sitting in the airport an hour before my flight (and thus no way to post this before I get to the hotel because Sir Christopher can't access wireless networks, and yes I did forget my ethernet cord; I also forgot the room reservation number, but I called Tina and she looked it up for me because she is the awesome. AND I forgot to call the ME people and give them my flight info -- which I totally did when I booked the tickets ANYWAY -- so they'd better run twenty-four hours or I'm going to be even later...geez, long parenthetical aside), and I believe it's finally hit me that I'm doing this. I feel rather guilty that my parents are still totally clueless, and this is a lot of money. Okay, I feel a lot guilty. But I also feel a bit pleased with myself for having made plans and paid for the trip all on my lonesome. And also, I am REALLY EXCITED TO BE GOING OMG.
This is the first time I've flown domestically since I was ten or so. Thank the gods for BWI and its signs and its total lack of nonsense, or I'd be freaking out. Dustin's flight leaves at 7:20, so he, Anne and I all piled into Shannon's car. Unfortunately that means the three of us got a free day off of field school, but Tim will get over it. He also didn't remember that I had told him I was leaving for the next three days, but he didn't seem too upset.
There is an awfully cute frat-looking boy sitting to my right. His hair is cut too short, but it's a nice dark brown. He looks a little bit like Matt Dillon, but...more attractive (I don't find Matt Dillon particularly attractive). Hmmm. Perhaps slightly more Jesse Bradford-esque.
I keep thinking I forgot something else important and won't realize it until I get there. I did run out of my spray sunscreen, so I only have one bottle of the Neutragena and may have to get some more. One souvenir from The Ride -- maybe two -- food and hotel, and that's it for spending money. My dinner from Wawa cost me eight bucks, which is totally ridiculous, and I threw half of it away because I was too nervous to eat. I should have just gone to McDonalds, where in case you didn't know, they have PIRATE HAPPY MEALS. Tina, Maria and I went on Monday, and seriously, the first toy is the best thing I have ever gotten from a fast food kid's meal. It's a fist-sized plastic pirate skull, but wait -- lift up his eyepatch and he's a Magic 8 ball! But wait again -- shake him and his Magic 8 messages come up in piratespeak! It is so awesome. I'm going to go back again and again, I don't care if it probably makes Johhny cry. They also have a kickass little stuffed Jack Sparrow and a ship-adorned notebook. I'd pay a lot more than four bucks for all of that stuff, and it comes with perfect-sized portions of disgusting junk food. What more could you want in life?
You know, I popped open Sir Chris to work on a small J/W ficlet, which I would like to finish before seeing the film, but it doesn't look like that's happening. Bloody LJ! Even when I'm not connected to the Internets, you're wasting my time!
Sigh. Okay, saving entry and closing window NOW.
