What do we think of the materials used in Governor Swann's wedding outfit? Brocade for the coat, silk for the waistcoat? (links to
justawench's galleries and
geek_mama_2's recent picspam if needed). That's merely a guess on my part, as I know nothing about fabrics and costuming. The coat doesn't even really look like my impression of brocade, it's just a fabric I happen to know and what my brain is telling me it's likely to be made of.
Why yes, this is for a fic...
Awww, I need a Swann icon. Why doesn't anybody ever cap-base or icon him?

drooled overexamined closely at the Victoria & Albert Museum several years ago, the coat & breeches are of silk satin. (satin woven of silk) The fancy colored work around the edges is silk embroidery. (Or would have been, in that time period. The costumers at Disney may well have cheated and used rayon or equivalent.)The waistcoat is probably, in real life, a pseudo-brocade print (the camera can't tell the difference in anything but extreme closeup) but in that time period it'd be a jacquard-woven patterned brocade.
For practical purposes, "satin" for the coat and breeches and "brocade" for the waistcoat. :)
