the Dalaverse

Monday night we watched "Top Hat," which is the first Fred Astaire movie I've officially seen. And I learned that my weakness for dancing movies extends to the 1930s at least. I just can't help it. People dance, onscreen, alone or together, and the movie's totally got me.

Tonight we watched "Casablanca." Which, for my money, now and forever: Greatest Movie Ever Made. I love watching it with people who've never seen it before and aren't expecting the funny, clever lines -- their laughter is all surprised, which is exactly what I sounded like when I first watched it. it did make me a little sad, though, because the last time I saw it was in Oxford on Valentine's Day, with Eddie and John Henry and Ruth...sigh.

Oh, and the regulator in my window automatic rolling-up system broke this morning on the way back from the lab. I, of course, freaked out and called my mother. Then I called the Hyundai dealer in town, and the price they quoted me seemed ridiculous, so I asked PS for the name of a mechanic. Who took a look at it for free, ordered the part, and is charging half what the dealer charges. Which makes me feel all smart for being suspicious, even if all mechanics are like the adults in the "Peanuts" cartoons to me. So the Cheese will get its new regulator tomorrow in the scant two hours I have free (which I only have free because I'm skipping work in the afternoon).

And then it's almost the weekend!

Why is Fergie so gross? Black-Eyed Peas Fergie, I mean, not royal Fergie. That stupid London Bridge song is ridiculously addictive, but she always just looks...gross.

I think I will make this my default for a little while.
