Have started re-watching all the "Heroes" episodes in order, and thought I'd keep up a running commentary. Here's the first one, "Genesis."
First Peter and Simone! I forgot how smoothly Peter asked Simone out. Also, I love him in the scrubs.
First Mohinder! Heh, I was just parroting the cockroach-as-the-evolutionary-ideal thing the other day. Mohinder's accent is much more Indian here than it gets later on, and not British at all. Where's the actor from, anyway? ::imdbs:: Born and raised in Chicago, so I can understand the fluctuating accent. Also, Mohinder was always this pretty. And rambling. And hey! Totally an intern on one first season ep of "Grey's Anatomy"! I distinctly remember drooling over an Indian intern with no name, and I bet dollars to donuts it was him.
The heavy exposition of the Sureshes is kind of clunky here, but it does set us up quickly. It's the pilot; it's necessary.
First Bennett! Already creepifying and bespectabled.
First Nikki! Or rather first Nikki's ass. I wonder if Jessice ever took over with some of the website stuff, either because she enjoyed it or to spare Nikki the indignity.
I really like how each episode link has a different character's face. But seriously, NBC.com, you can stop freezing and jumping on me any second now.
...Thank you. Wow, that almost never works.
Damn, Micah is an insolent little kid, isn't he? I get that he's a genius and all, but still.
FIRST CLAIRE! And Zach, aww. Very interesting which characters they chose to introduce before the credit roll -- Peter/Simone, Mohinder, Nikki and Micah, and Claire, who's easily got the most dramatic entrance. And seriously, the special effects are really impressive, especially considering it's TV. Claire's healing, Nathan's flying, Hiro's time stoppage, the DL and Nikki/Jessice stuff..
If you didn't know they were brothers, Nathan and Peter would come off as lovers during their introduction. And Nathan grabs Peter's shoulder, but he's being condescending when he does it, so I don't know if it counts as showing physical affection.
Claire was a little irritating in these first scenes, but her ribs poking out through her stomach totally make up for it.
Awww, Zach's so cute. I
First Hiro! Heh, I never noticed the skanky Sailor Moon-esque figurines on his desk. And we have our first YATA! I was definitely on board with Hiro from the very beginning. He is so damn cute, and such a lovable geek. I'm looking forward to Ando meeting up with Nikki again.
So is the 9th Wonders comic an ongoing thing of Isaac's? I guess I assumed the Hiro edition was the first one, but Micah's reading one now. Maybe the Hiro one is just the first issue Isaac drew.
Peter is very affectionate with his mother in their first scene together, kissing her cheek and kind of holding her hand (and touching foreheads, awww), while Nathan just paces and doesn't come near her. So far my touch theory is bearing out. Also, I love Peter so, so much. I think I still had too many Milo issues when I first started watching (because of AD more than GG). Heh, Peter "hero-worshipped" Nathan. And I love how much faith he has in Nathan. Still.
DL was really very mysterious when they first talked about him. I think I was imagining someone more like Linderman. Tina's really bitchy. Nikki's coming off as a total nutbag right now, but still.
I like the fire thing because I believe it's Claire's hero instinct working with her deathwish. I want to see her save more people.
Oh, I do not like Mohinder's mustache. The scruff, yes, but it's gone a bt too far here. Eww, he stomped a mouse!
First mention of Sylar on the tape.
First Isaac! I must say, I was not an Isaac fan at first. I like the hair in theory, but drugged-out Isaac is all dirty and sweaty. Oooh, the eclipse painting. He and Simone are a pile of fuck-up here.
Nathan's bending over the back of Peter's chair. There's just no excuse for that. Although -- he is trying to talk Peter into taking the job here. I really disliked Nathan for disparaging Peter's job. Hmm. He grabbed Peter's shoulders again. It seems like every time he touches him, it's to express dominance. Whereas in that dream in "Fallout," Nathan touches Peter the way Peter touches other people.
Peter and Mohinder! Yay! Heh. "Yes, we are all special." I would totally take a lecture class with Mohinder.
Oh, it's the "Eyes" song. So pretty. So many pretty people! I love Peter staring out the back of the cab with his sunglasses (immediately followed by a shot of Claire looking up at it...). This is a really, really good montage.Great song, great visuals. Well done, my show!
This Nikkisploitation scene is difficult to watch, but I like that about the show. It's very iintense for network TV.
Ando needs to get laid. Seriously.
I like that it was Mohinder and Peter meeting first, because I see them both as Professor X figures.
The little yappy dog at the table grosses me out like mad. Poor deep-cleaned Mrs. Bennett.
Ugh, the mangled fingers are GROSS. And cool. All Mrs. Bennett's talk about knowing who you are is really, really sad and creepy now. And Hayden's got a little bit of a twang here, but I think she drops it later on.
I'd forgotten that Hiro was staring at a picture of New York when he teleported. This subway scene is also very well-done.
Heh, Peter's a skeptic regarding Isaac being able to paint the future, but of course HE can fly, because he's SPECIAL. I love the coat/cape in the painting. And Isaac's heroic instinct kicking in immediately upon painting the floorpocolypse.
Aw, why'd Peter have to go and waste a perfectly good cell phone. OH Milo is PRETTY. The shots of them flying are still so cool. And Nathan's grim "I don't know" -- like he's not really surprised, because of "Six Months Ago." God, I love this show SO MUCH. Fucking everything works.
I realize this space has been kind of Heroes-centric lately, but, um -- start watching it so you can squee with me!

Never fails to have me giggling.
After I get of work Tuesday morning I am going to indulge in a Heroes-a-thon and just gorge myself on the pretty and the good. I do have to say that the Supernatural fandom has ruined me. Who cares if the pretty boys touching are brothers! *headdesk* *drags mind out of the gutter*
I need me an icon...
