The pirate paper is moving along splendidly. I'm fairly certain I can finagle a Hoover/James II and FDR/William and Mary analogy from "Captain Blood," which also happened to be a terrific movie. And the opening scene of "The Sea Hawk" contains this dialogue from Philip II:

"And the New World is ours...our armies sweeping over Africa, the Near East, and the Far West, invincible everywhere but our own doorstep. Only Northern Europe holds out against us...It will have ceased to be a map of the world. It will be Spain."

People, this movie was made in 1940. I freaking love Michael Curtiz. He's so easy.
