the_dala at 11:29pm on 01/01/2007I've still got forty-two minutes of January 1 here, so Happy New Year, everybody! Allow me to get a bit more Thanksgiving than New Year's here -- you guys made the bad days bearable and the good days that much better. Here's to a 2007 full of joy and love and porn and fandom.
My Eve was fairly sedate; mostly we were motivated by the desire to get out and drink in public simply because now we all can. This amounted to a single drink apiece -- mojitos for Tina and Meg, a glass of pinot noir for me (I do so love ordering wine, and now I've actually found one I can enjoy), though Kat refrained. Unfortunately Jasper's is unhip and kept to their normal hours, and kicked us out around 11. After returning Meg to the bosom of her family and the new hot tub, the rest of us dropped in at my house to watch the ball drop.* Our grand plan was to make as many varieties of mojito as we could manage, but we forgot to do the shopping and thus ended up with just rum, peach schnapps, lime and lemon juice, and soda. Also, the ancient bottle of peach schnapps has a busted lid which I forgot to mention, so it fell over during the ride to Tina's and spilt all over the passenger seat floor. The poor Cheese smells like it was bathed in the stuff. I'm going to drag the rug out tomorrow and try to deal with it.
Anyway, we made some rum drinks at Tina's and watched "The Devil Wears Prada," which I liked so much that I rented it today to watch with the parents. It was a nice New Year's. I'll admit that I'm a little afraid of 2007, because it's The Graduation Year and, like 2003, is a number that simply lived in my head a lot more than all the other recent years. But we'll see how it goes.
