How did I not know that Johnny Cash did a cover of "In My Life" for one of the American Recordings albums I don't own?
Y'all. "In My Life" is not only my favorite Beatles song, it's in a dead tie for my very favorite song ever (with "Thunder Road" and "Where the Streets Have No Name"). And this version is completely lovely, and sweet and sad, and damn near perfect.
::sighs:: I think I shall listen to it for the next couple of hours.
I had a most disturbing dream last night. It must've been inspired by "Children of Men." I was driving in a car with my parents, and there was this truck driving around and randomly shooting at people with a shotgun. One of the people shot my mother in the head and she died in the backseat. I woke up at three AM and couldn't get back to proper sleep. Decided not to go to work today, in part because Sara is still not there -- she must be sick, I guess -- and in part because it's raining right now and supposed to turn to ice and/or snow later, and I have no desire to drive over the bridge (or on the windy little backroads to the lab) in this sort of weather.
Aha, Vanessa has a case of tomato soup -- I'll snag a can and curl up on the couch until class tonight. Good times.
ETA: I've finally caved to the college music scene and downloaded some Rilo Kiley, and oh my god -- I want to have Jenny Lewis's baby. If that were possible.

BTW, I got your package, and it was -- man. So beautiful, and so perfect, and thank you so much. I spent this afternoon reading it. And I finally have an idea of something for you :) (My problem is always coming up with that perfect gift...) I'll let you know when it's coming, I won't be able to get it for a little while.

I'm glad it finally arrived, and that it made you so happy.
