"Stranger Than Fiction" tops my favorite movies of the year, I think (not counting DMC, because apples to apples and all that takes it out of the running). It's just...every single note rings true, it's clever and sweet and funny and touching and honest and thoughtful and real. It's a movie about a man, and it's also a movie about writing for writers, and it bends genres and genre expectations. Will Ferrell, Emma Thompson, Maggie Gyllenhal (::fans self:: Why do I just need to watch her whenever she's onscreen?), and Dustin Hoffman are pitch perfect. I just adore it. I adored it the first time I saw it, and tonight every scene filled me with joy. I think I'll go see it again tomorrow night.
