So Ness, Laura, and I are taking a spring break trip to New York City (yay!). We're staying at my aunt's house in New Jersey and taking the train in (no hotel yay!). And we're gonna do New York up right (yay!). My question for you guys is twofold:

1. Know any sites to get cheap Broadway tickets? (Or ballet/opera)
and
2. Any recommendations for stuff to see beyond the most obvious tourist attractions?

YAY!

Oh, and ::snuggles:: to [livejournal.com profile] linaelyn for the LJ treats. You made me wake up not hating Valentine's Day, love.
Mood:: 'excited' excited

Talkin' Broadway (http://www.talkinbroadway.com/boards/) keeps an ongoing list of standing room and rush tickets for all Broadway and Off-Broadway shows.

If you join Playbill Club (http://www.playbill.com/club/offers/) (it's free), they have very good discounts.

yup. its recently moved from times SQ proper to 7th av and i think 44th? There's also one at the South Street seaport if that location would be more convenient. Do you know where you'll be staying yet?

I would love to! I just don't know how I'd sell it to my roommates...

How much time will you be spending in NYC? I recognize the museums are a must - the Met, the MOMA, Natural History. You could easily spend a day wandering around Central Park. If you can get to them, go to the Cloisters. The Tenement housing is definitely non-tourist-oriented but a bit much to handle.

I'll ask my dad for some more places later.

Four days is the plan right now. The museums are a definite, and I'd forgotten about the Cloisters. Thanks!
