Hee. I just had the following conversation with my dad.

Dad: So what movie are we going to see this weekend?
Dala: Well, I want to see this movie with Ioan Gruffud -- you know, Horatio Hornblower --
Dad: I want to see "Amazing Grace."
Dal: OMG ME TOO!

See, Mom is away at some manager conference training thing in Portland, so I'm going home mostly to help take care of our (as she calls Ralphie) Special Needs Dog. Poor Ralphie, he can't be left alone that long.

Anyway. I finished up the Jack Kent Cook Scholarship application, which is just for the school to look at so they can decide which two people they want to nominate. Since they extended the deadline by a week, I'm sort of thinking nobody bothered to apply but me. Which is nice! Potentially $50,000! I don't know how many they give away -- I'll have to look more closely at the website.

Annnnd I'm off.

I gave up trying to pronounce Ioan Gruffudd's name years ago and just call him 'Horatio'.

I actually have a friend from college who knew a little Welsh and she said it's "Yo-An" and "Griffith." I think that's one of the most screwed up languages.

Yeah, I heard it pronounced somewhere. All those languages are completely weird. I love the Celtic names that are twenty-three letters long and pronounced with one syllable.

Same here! I tried to teach myself Gaelic once and it didn't work. I love the sound of it and I can sing several songs in the Old Irish, but I have absolutely no idea how to read it.

If you end up seeing Amazing Grace, let us know how it is! I just read about it when a review showed up in one of my RSS feeds (never heard of it before) and it sounds like something I might want to see in theaters.
