I don't mean to be spammy, but damn, it's really coming down out there! I wish I could be in fifth grade again so I could go sledding with Jessie. It's no fun to go sledding when you're twenty-one and by yourself. Well, I guess it's never really fun to go sledding by yourself.

I think I love winter because I have such strong memories associated with it. I've always lived within walking distance of at least one best friend and two sledding hills. And then there was the blizzard in 1996, when we all went looking for Dexter in the woods because he'd gone missing, and then Jessie tried to convince Stephanie and me that there was a ghost named Maid Marian in her washing machine. I don't even know how many times I tramped up the street in my snowboots, meeting Steph and/or Jess halfway. Winter was like...the world all of a sudden wasn't just a playground, it actually gave you something to play with.

...Is it terribly unhealthy how much I want to reach the stage in life where I can tap into all this with my own kids?

Dad's not home yet. I assume he didn't want to drive hom in the snow and is hiding out at the mall, but I ought to call and check up on him. Now that I think about it, I really home the weather chills out by the time I have to drive back tomorrow morning...

Hey! Did y'all know about this production of McCullough's John Adams biography and fail to tell me? I'm not so comfortable with Paul Giamatti as Adams, but I am all about Laura Linney for Abigail. And IMDB isn't listing it, but apparently Rufus Sewell is Alexander Hamilton, and he always gives good history. Plus HBO/Tom Hooper did such a great job with "Elizabeth I" that my hopes are high. Add this one to my list of Things I Can't Wait to See, so far two of which have met my expectations.

I remember way, waaay back, McCullough mentioning that Tom Hanks was going to produce a mini-series of John Adams for HBO, but I had *no idea* it had gotten this far. Giamatti is a good actor, so I think he'll be fine. Laura Linney is perfect, though. (The only thing that could make this better would be if they could work in a cameo for William Daniels.)
This news made my day. My week. Actually, improved the entire month of February.

I had no idea about the John Adams miniseries! I am going nuts waiting for April with Showtime's miniseries about Henry VIII as a young man...
