Thank you guys for the birthday love -- my day improved right then (although I am now a little embarrassed about the whining), and further improved when I stepped outside and remembered how lucky I am to call such a beautiful place home. Especially when the sailing team is bobbing down the river and it's warm enough to blast oldies with the window down. Since I consider today the real conclusion to St. Patrick's Day, I listened to the good stuff at work -- the Chieftans, the Dubliners, Gaelic Storm, O'Donoghue. Then I left early to get ice cream (not just any ice cream, either; the Baskin Robbins is usually too far away to bother with, but I was over the bridge anyway). In scuba tonight, I fixed my maskless breathing problem. Apparently my brain can't do "focus abysmal eyesight in over-chlorinated poolwater" and "not breathe through nose" at the same time. I kept my eyes closed, it was much easier. Now I won't drown at the bottom of the lake! Score!
Facebook is also good for birthdays. There's one guy from high school who friended me and I swear I don't recognize him at all, but he left a message on my wall all the same. And Ness made me a cake!
Tomorrow, perhaps, I will actually do the spring break catch-up thing, because I had a good one. Right now I'm going to crawl into bed with Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert (afterr Tommy Donnelly and Jenny Riley have vacated) and lament the fact that the English AWE trailer won't premiere until 1:00 my time. Y'all, I have an 8 am, I can't be up that late. Should I set my alarm and interrupt my REM just to see it, or wait until morning? ::ponders::
ETA: Oh yeah, and today's also the first anniversary of the Iraqi war, as Jon just reminded. 2003 was totally my best birthday ever...
ETA again: BOYKISSING ON THE DAILY SHOW! Not just a chaste peck, but some hot and heavy making out, for reals. Catch this one in reruns, y'all. They're great at skewering homophobia.
Note to self: must pick up some Stephen Colbert's Americone Dream and Willie Nelson's Peach Cobbler next time in town. God, I love Ben & Jerry's.
