So Kate is the best professor on the face of the earth: seniors don't have to take the final exam. I mean, we can if we want, but as she said, "you guys all have As right now and you worked really hard on your projects." And it's TRUE, everybody's presentation was really well-done and interesting. Och, I am happy about this -- now all I have to worry about next week is one measely little geology exam, and then I'm FREE. It's the boost I needed to finish my sem paper this weekend.

To match my mood, I give you one of the weirdest and most delightful things I have ever seen: the celebrity pimpmercial from last night's Idol Gives Back. Random celebrities lip-synching to "Stayin' Alive" and dancing like fools. And I mean random -- Lisa Kudrow, Eric McCormack, Hugh Laurie, Keira Knightley, Helen Mirren, Fergie (the duchess one), Emily Blunt, Teri Hatcher, Goldie Hawn, Gwyneth Paltrow, Helen Bonham Carter, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Shaq, Marc Anthony, Ryan Seacrest, the Madden twins, Dr. Phil, Kevin Bacon...and I'm sure a couple more I missed. It's like a horrible trainwreck. Made of awesome, that I can't stop watching. (Keira looks very pretty and not as thin as she's been lately, but that might just be because she's not scowling at paparazzi.)

Miss Piggy! How could I forget Miss Piggy?

I read about this on [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda's blog last night, but seeing it . . . is just bizarre. I don't see the point. I also didn't recognize half the people. Hugh Laurie and Miss Piggy were the best, though.

If you watch AI, it makes more sense -- every week the kids do a cheesy singing commercial-type thing. I'm assuming all the celebs were in it for the charity aspect, which is pretty awesome of them.

LOL! That is too funny--as you say, a horrible trainwreck that is also made of awesome. Keira DOES look beautiful (thankfully, she's been worrying me lately) and Hugh Laurie and Hugh Grant crack my shit up. Thanks for posting this...I was sorry I missed it last night.

I am so happy to have Hugh Laurie on my TV in any capacity. And yeah, I'm hoping Keira has just been worn lately with hectic shooting schedules and has gotten some rest -- she's really looked haggard in recent photos.

The show itself was kind of an extension of the weird, with a couple of great causes, but I still felt kind of queasy at the footage, I think because I'm just so accustomed to associating the AI people with crass consumerism and exploitation. But they did raise $60 million, which is incredible. The performances ranged from the truly bizarre -- Celine Dion dueting with poor dead Elvis -- to very good, namely Kelly Clarkson singing a Patty Griffin song with Jeff Beck. I was really only paying half attention because I was writing a paper, but a lot happened that made me look up.

Oh, Fergie's in there somewhere. I thought that was Kirstie, but I hadn't seen Penelope. And I just realized who the girl with the beautiful dark hair is near the end -- Parminder Nagra ::does NOT consider Keira/Parminder RPS::
