I just had to set my dad straight but good as we were watching the "Star Wars" mythology program on the History Channel.
Dad: I liked 1, 2, and 3; I got tired of 4, 5, and 6.
Dala: You know that 4, 5, and 6 are the original trilogy, right?
Dad: I know.
Dala: OH MY GOD. DOES NOT COMPUTE.
Dad: I didn't like those tree people in 6 [yet he likes freakin' JAR-JAR]
Dala: Well, no one likes the Ewoks. But Daddy! [close to tears] The new ones have shit writing, shit acting, and shit Lucas showing off with technology. Remember "Your skin is soft, not like sand. Sand is rough"?!
Dad: Oh yeah. That did kind of suck.
Dala: ::breaths sigh of relief::
Also, please to explain why I'm having problems organizing the shower schedule here. Dad leaves at 7:15 and takes a shower at 6:30. I leave at 7:30 and want to shower at 6:15. My mother doesn't leave the house until 8:45 and thus could and should take the latest shower, yet she wants my shower time and for me to get up at 5:45 instead, because "I have to wash my hair." WTF is that? Not happening. Sorry.
We saw "Waitress" today, and it was really just as good as I'd been hearing. Keri Russell and Andy Griffith are fantastic, and while I am always a fan of Nathan Filion, apparently seeing him "all sweet and nervous" makes me squirm in my seat with the need to jump through the screen and tackle him. GOD. It's also extremely funny and touching. Seriously, just a great movie.

ceria_taliesin - she knows which one. New characterization/canon is so strange. But also, fun.

Personally, I like both trilogies. However, I consider 2 of the PT movies my favorites (Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith) and only 1 of the OT movies as a favorite (The Empire Strikes Back).
I don't believe in the prevailing view that the PT was shit. I thought it was just as brilliant as the OT . . . but only different and more complex.

You know, if your Dad didn't like the SW Original Trilogy, that was it. Maybe you should have just accepted his view.
...Okay? Seriously, I don't know why you felt the need to get snippy about a three-week-old humorous post relating a personal family conversation. I've spent hours arguing with my dad over whether Aerosmith or the Rolling Stones are the ugliest band of all time, or which is the second-best Dylan album; that doesn't mean I don't respect his opinion.
