::flails:: My love for "1776" is just unparalleled.
Hancock: Mr. Wilson, in your need to be liked you have once again forgotten that Delaware cannot second its own motion!
(ten minutes later)
Wilson: Delaware seconds!
Hancock:...
Wilson: Oh my god!
I love Hancock's shouting. He's an angry emo president of Congress, and who can blame him.
Thomas Jefferson is truly our hottest founding figure. Not that Washington doesn't have his charms. Washington, Washington, six-foot-eight, weighs a fucking ton...Seriously, if anyone hasn't seen this yet? Click! (A bit unsafe for work.)
Aww crap, now I'm gonna have it stuck in my head for two days ago. Also must point out that blame should be laid at
doolabug's feet for showing it to me.
Oooh, oooh, my favorite song! "Mr. Adams, leave me alooooone!" "But life is more than sexual combustability! (Bustability! Bustability! Com-bust-a-bil-ityyyy!)" And the one thing you get in the movie that's missing from the cast recording is the dancing. The revival cast recording is pretty great, though - Brent Spiner plays Adams and, while he can't approach the awesomeness that is William Daniels, he does have a better voice. And Rutledge's voice is incredible.
....Okay, I'll shut up. At least I don't have to cut for spoilers! Psssst, the resolution on independency passes!
I desperately need a 1776 icon.
Adams: May I present myself - Mr. Adams.
The Jeffersons: ::make out::
Adams: ..John Adams?
The Jeffersons: ::snoggage::
Adams: And Mr. Franklin - the inventor of the stove?
The Jeffersons: ::suck face::
Incredible
ETA: Just one more! "A committee dedicated to the keeping of secrets, designated as the...Secrets Committee." We pirates don't have much imagination and all that. And McKean has the most beautiful overdone Scots accent since Jacques in "Lady and the Tramp." It's the messenger boy! I love how he just clomps in,, all bowlegged, drops his message on the table, and clomps right back out. And Washington's sad sack, Eeyore dispatches. "That man would depress a hyena," indeed.
Okay, I'm going to bed now, for reals. We just watched it a couple of months ago in the underground film club - biggest success of the semester, actually - and I'm going to have to buy it before I go to England anyway.

Of course, the whole movie has instances of Dickinson/Wilson slash. lol
I love the song too. Especially Hancock: "What? The British Crown? or the British half-crown?"

I own it on DVD and screencapping software. What scene in particular were you thinking of? :)

I went to an off-Broadway performance several years ago and the actor who played Adams sounded EXACTLY like Bill Daniels. Looked nothing like him, but sounded like him. Holy cow.

1776! That's my favorite song too: "Homicide! Homicide!"
I get chills when Rutledge sings the triangular trade song.
Er, do you want an icon? Of something? I extend the hand of friendship in icon form.
HOLY SHIT THAT VIDEO :D
